Ukrainian device voice
Your SpeakSlava voices come first. A device voice is the backup when a recording cannot play, or when you choose Device.
Checking the voices this browser exposes…
No sound is played by this check. Installing a voice does not guarantee that this browser will expose it. Return to your lesson tab afterward; nothing starts automatically.
Android & Samsung
Open Settings and search for Text-to-speech output. On Samsung, look under General management → Text-to-speech.
Choose the Google speech engine if available. Open its settings → Install voice data → download Ukrainian (Ukraine), if offered. If Google is unavailable, check whether Samsung offers Ukrainian.
Priority: Google Ukrainian → installed Samsung Ukrainian → another installed Ukrainian voice. Only voices actually available to this browser qualify. Menu names vary.
iPhone & iPad
Open Settings → Accessibility → Read & Speak → Voices. Older versions call this Spoken Content. Find Ukrainian and download an offered voice. You do not need to turn on VoiceOver.
We use the browser-exposed preferred local Ukrainian voice, then another local Ukrainian voice.
Mac
Open System Settings → Accessibility → Read & Speak. Open the voice controls beside System voice, find Ukrainian, and finish downloading an offered voice. Older versions call this Spoken Content.
We use the browser-exposed preferred local Ukrainian voice, then another local Ukrainian voice. We do not assume every Mac has the same voice.
Windows
Microsoft’s current built-in voice list does not include Ukrainian. Installing the Ukrainian display language alone is not a verified fix. If you already have a Ukrainian voice, check whether your browser exposes it; otherwise use the SpeakSlava recordings or another supported device.
Still unavailable?
Return after the download and check again. You may need to reopen the browser. We never replace Ukrainian with another language. An empty list can mean loading, no installed voice, or a browser limitation.
Google/Samsung recognition uses the voice name supplied by the browser, not a guaranteed provider identifier. Unknown remote voices are not selected automatically.
